More info about
HSBC holdings plc is an international banking and financial services company with headquarters in London. Branches were first opened in Hong Kong and Shanghai in 1865. The HSBC name stands for Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Company. It is said to be the world’s third largest bank by assets and has 6,600 offices in 80 countries. Although it provides services all over the world, Hong Kong and the United Kingdom remain its home markets. The company has four main branches: commercial banking, retail and wealth management, global banking and market, and global private banking.
HSBC customer service
HSBC offers customer service through the phone, email and even on Twitter. The phone numbers
offered are for general customer service, premier customer service, HSBC advance, international calls
and finally for Spanish and Chinese customers. The number takes you to an automated telephone
banking system. This is of course not ideal. When you call you will be prompted to provide a valid
account number. This is either your ATM/debit card number, credit card number or your social security
number. After typing this number in, hit the pound (#) key. The phone lines are open from 8am to
10pm every day, UK time. This is something to keep in mind if you are calling from abroad. To call
customer service, dial 03457 404 404.
HSBC premier customer service is available for those customers depositing their annual income into an
HSBC account AND have a savings account of at least 50,000 pounds with HSBC in the UK or have
an individual annual income of at least 100,000 pounds and either a mortgage or an investment in the
UK.
The company also provides an automated system with which customers can type in questions. To find
this, scroll to the bottom of the webpage. and click “ask us a question on counter service”. On this same website is a link to a
phonebook which gives customers a more detailed phone directory in order to help customers find the
right number to call. To find that click
here.
The company does not provide an exact email address but rather a contact form that customers are
asked to fill out.
A simple search reveals that many customers are very unhappy with the customer service provided by
HSBC. They complain that the company makes opening international accounts difficult, the customer
service representatives are rude, and in general it is hard to find someone who will actually solve the
problem. It seems that many people complain of always being handed off to the next person.
Others complain that the call center’s security system is irritating and that the customer service website
provides little helpful information.
