Groupon is a group coupon service. They provide coupons and rebates to restaurants, services, stores and experiences in a group buying setting. Groupon is based on an email subscription model. Everyday users receive an offer or deal in which they can take part in. If enough people buy the coupon then everyone receives the deal. The idea is to promote new or struggling businesses through deals, rebates and coupons that rely on a certain number or sales. It is also often used by businesses as a sales promotion tool. Groupon is a fairly new company, having only been founded in 2008.

To get any type of customer service help with Groupon you will be prompted to sign in to your account. Once you’ve signed into your account you will then see that your orders are organized for you on the customer service page. Groupon then prompts customers to choose an order that they might be having an issue with. Under the tab “Help Wizard” customers will see their previous orders. There is also another tap called “FAQ”. Under this tab customers can search for what they might need help with. There are also frequently asked questions located underneath. Upon first glance it looks as though Groupon does not offer customers a phone number with which to call for help. The customer service site is also not quick to give an email address for general inquires. Not found on the website, but likely to be helpful, is the email address [email protected]. Emailing them may get you a little closer to solving your problem.

After a simple search most people report that Groupon often puts customers in touch with the business or firm from which they bought their coupon, in an attempt to solve problems. This leaves out the middle man but some consumers have reported that this is a bit frustrating. Many people have complained that they were unable to print or to even find a return label for an item they bought on the Groupon website that they would like to return. Also, many customers complain that when calling the customer service department they were put on hold for unacceptable amounts of time. Many reported being told that someone would call them back within 48 hours, without ever receiving this promised call. Also, Groupon does not guarantee anything when it comes to the service or quality of the product on offer. If you are not satisfied with the experience you had, Groupon is not responsible. Groupon also offers the possibility for businesses to advertise and promote sales. They claim to have successfully put many companies on the map with Groupon deals; this is something to consider if you are a business needing a boost.
